Lakeview Event Center Amphitheatre Renovation
Groundbreaking Ceremony
(Clayton County, GA) -The Lakeview Event Center Amphitheater at Clayton County International Park is up for a $5 million renovation. District 4 Commissioner DeMont Davis and Clayton County
Parks & Recreation will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 2300 Walt Stephens Road, Jonesboro, GA, on Tues., July 8, 2025, at 10 a.m.
The renovation project will include the demolition of the current grandstand bleachers, the addition of a covered stage, fencing, and two concession areas, and restrooms. A new entrance, ticket booth office, and artificial turf is also included in the renovation.
“The improvements are focused on modernizing the facility, addressing maintenance needs, and ensuring a safe, accessible and welcoming venue for community events, concerts, and
performances,” stated Nicole Home, Clayton County Parks & Recreation Director. “These updates will allow us to better serve our patrons and continue to attract high-quality programming.”
In addition, the upgrades support economic development, enhances quality of life and preserves a key community asset. Modernizing the venue ensures it remains competitive, safe and accessible, while also reflecting Clayton County Board of Commissioners’ commitment to quality of life and community engagement.
The Clayton County International Park was home to the 1996 Olympic Games volleyball competition. With upgrades to the recently renovated Lakeview Event Center VIP Complex, tennis
courts, trails, and more, the county is excited about expanding other economic development opportunities for sports and special events. The $5 million project is funded by the 2021 Special
Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.
