Private instructors who want to use the Clayton County Tennis Center to facilitate lessons must be registered with the Clayton County Parks & Recreation Department. The following is required of all private instructors:
- Instructors must hold current certification from either USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association) or PTR (Professional Tennis Registry).
- Instructors must complete a background check with the department before being permitted to instruct at the Tennis Center.
- Instructors must be USTA Safe Play Certified.
- At least $1,000,000 of liability insurance is required of all instructors using the Tennis Center (usually included with USPTA and PTR certification).
The Tennis center will issue a photo ID badge as proof the instructor has met the requirements, and the badge must be always worn when lessons are being conducted on the property.
Instructors are required to pay a monthly fee $75.00 for a maximum of 20 hours per week (based on court availability). Fees must be paid to the Clayton County Tennis Center at the time of reservation. All reservations for private instruction must be approved by the Tennis Center staff.
Courts for private lessons should be reserved thirty days in advance and submitted before the first day of each month. Court reservations cannot exceed 60 days. Same day reservations are subject to approval and not guaranteed. Instructors may use one court per lesson, per hour, for private instruction.
The instructor is required to provide 24 hours’ notice of cancellation. Court fees of approved cancellations will be applied to future makeup dates. Make up lessons due to inclement weather are to be rescheduled with Tennis Center. A schedule of all lessons submitted and approved will be maintained by the Tennis Center.
Solicitation of clients from other Tennis Center instructors is considered unethical and, therefore, prohibited. Doing so may constitute grounds for suspension from Tennis Center.
