2026 Lifeguard Certification Classes with Clayton County Parks and Recreation begin in April. This is an opportunity to become a certified lifeguard, and also an opportunity to express interest in applying to become a lifeguard for Clayton County Parks and Recreation.
Interested participants must attend one of the following 3-day class series:
* April 10, 2026 – April 12, 2026
* April 24, 2026 – April 26, 2026
* May 1, 2026 – May 3, 2026
* May 15, 2026 – May 17, 2026
* August 7, 2026 – August 9, 2026
* August 21, 2026 – August 23, 2026
* September 18, 2026 – September 20, 2026
* October 2, 2026 – October 4, 2026
Participants must attend all 3 days in a series to complete the certification.
Participants must also meet all of the following required prerequisites:
* 300-meter swim
* 2 minutes treading water (without arms)
* Timed-brick test (10 lbs. brick)
Participants must be at least 15 years old to get certified, and 16 years old to apply for a lifeguard job with Parks and Recreation. The classes cost $150 for participants who are only interested in becoming certified, and $90 for participants who are interested in applying for a job as a Clayton County Parks and Recreation lifeguard.
