Clayton County Parks & Recreation is always happy to welcome volunteers to support our youth sports and recreation programs. Whether you’re interested in coaching, assisting, or helping behind the scenes, there’s a role for you.
To get started, please complete our Volunteer Interest Form.
All volunteers complete a background check, required trainings, and the NAYS Coach Certification, which helps ensure a positive, safe, and fun experience for our youth.
Our volunteers help build confidence, teamwork, and community one season at a time.
Field Safety and Rules for Live Ball Play
To ensure the safety of all participants and minimize liability, umpires will enforce strict guidelines regarding who is allowed on the field during live ball play. Only 9 defensive players, 2 base coaches, and the on-deck batter will be permitted on the field while the game is in progress.
The only exceptions to this rule are:
- In coach pitch games, a coach may be on the field to pitch.
- In T-ball games, a coach may be on the field to assist with defensive positioning.
This policy helps maintain a safe and focused environment during the game. Coaches, players, and other individuals must remain either in the dugout or off the field during live ball play unless otherwise specified by the rules of the game. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the game safe and fair for all!
